Feed the Bear – A Math Activity for Kids
This week we are discussing the letter B, which of course led us to the Bear. Bears are very fascinating, and somehow extremely cute. Though I do not want to come across one in the forest. While I have very many bear activities up ahead for you, I wanted to show you this awesome fun math activity we created today.
Feed the bear is easy to assemble and can be played in various ways.
Ways to Play
Have them pick up a fish and together count up to that number. The fish are numbered up to 12 so this is great count to 10 practice.
Using 1 or 2 dice with dots, have the preschooler roll them and count the dots. Find the number and feed the bear. Or say the number and feed the bear that number.
Using 1 or 2 dice with the numbers on them, have the student roll, then create a number sentence such as, 3+3=6. Then feed the number 6 to the bear.
How to Create the Feed the Bear
Tissue Box with a square opening
Light brown paper
Red Paper (for heart nose)
First paint the paper plate and tissue box brown. My girls did this part. We put the brown paint on the paper plate in order to paint the tissue box, then just finished up the paper plate afterwards. Let Dry
When it is all dry. Cut out the inside of the paper plate so it is a circle.
Next, cut off just a small portion of the bottom of the circle.
After that, cut the small portion in half and round the edges. Then cut out a similar but smaller shape out of the light brown paper.
Glue The light brown paper on the small part.
Glue those two pieces on the rounded part of the big circle. (This make the ears)
Next fold the light brown paper in half and cut out a circle. This is the nose area of the bear. Glue it on the middle of the bear but leave it hanging off the side. Then glue on the eyes and the heart nose.
The face is now done. Glue onto the top of the painted tissue box.
Now that the bear is finished. Download these little fish to begin playing your game!
