My daughter has been asking for days, maybe even weeks if we were going to paint our pumpkins. The problem is that I am actually out of paint. I know, one of the essential craft items and I am out of it. So, I have been avoiding the question of when we will be painting (can a get an AMEN from all the Mamas out there) Then it hit me this morning, like a freight train headed for me, I have markers! So forget about painting pumpkins. We are going to color pumpkins. Now I was a little worried if my old Crayola markers would work on my slick skinned pumpkins. However, as long as your not smearing your hands all over the pumpkin, it works like a charm.
How does it work?
All you need is some markers, I use Crayola brand for EVERYTHING, I just find that they hold up the best. And of course you will need a pumpkin. I have a festive vinyl tablecloth that is easy to wipe off, however, if you do not, I recommend putting down some newspaper.
Then let your children decorate it however they wish. I had some big googly eyes on hand (found in my essential craft box), and hot glued those on for some extra personality.
I thought about this after, like all great ideas, you can always add a bit more to your pumpkin creations. Grab some yarn and hot glue on some hair or a mustache. Or if your feeling really crafty grab some doll items like a little hate from the store and go crazy. These can be as creative or simple as you wish.
My husband and I once made little pumpkin people as a date night. It was a fun little craft that we did together, followed by some caramel apples.
Feel Free (Please do) to follow me on Pinterest and pin some of the pictures you see here! Love to hear from you on how your little pumpkin creations went.
