15 Amazing Apple Activities for Littles
Apples Apples Everywhere! It is now autumn and apples are everywhere. Now you all may hate me now, but I just can not get into the whole pumpkin thing. I think pumpkins are great for decoration but as far as smelling pumpkin things and pumpkin treats, I just pass. However, apples are a different story. Apple pie. Apple sauce. The smell of cinnamon apples. Oh man. I also really enjoy all the apple activities. So today I decided to create a list of my favorite apple activities.
All you need are markers, coffee filters, and a spray bottle of water.
2. Apple Stamping
This one you may have seen before. I enjoy cutting them in different ways so that you get the star and the normal look. I also stab a popsicle stick in the top so that the girls have a handle to hold onto.
3. Apple Tree
Cut out a tree shape. Either cut or assemble with construction paper. Use some red paint and a finger and just mark up your “apple” tree.
4. Apple Feet
This is a cute craft. However, mostly adult based. Paint the feet and put down on the paper. Then add a leaf and maybe some googly eyes.
5. Apple Tear and Glue
Red paper, glue, and a paper plate make this craft a simple and fun one your very young kiddos. Tear up the red paper and glue it on the plate. Add a leaf cut out on top and voila its an apple.
1. Muffin Tin Apple Counting
Little pom poms are great for sorting colors and for counting apples. Muffin tins are great for counting out items.
2. Apple Investigation
A magnify glass adds a little fun to everything. Cut an apple and then slice a piece of the middle. This allows the child to see the star and the seeds. Place all the pieces (stem, seeds, and apple slice) on counter and allow the child to just investigate.
3. Erupting Apple
This is one of my favorites. My girls love seeing it explode out. Scoop a hole into the apple, add some baking soda, pour in the white vinegar and watch the fun!
4. Apple Boats
This is so much fun! We made some sails and cut the apples and watched them float. The best boat was the one shown in the picture above. It was the one that floated the best. We raced these, floated them and just played for a long time.
5. Apple Picking
This is fun! Apple picking can be relaxing and it is enjoyable to get your own apples and then use them at home. We have a local farm that allows for apple picking and it really is fun and my girls enjoy it.
This is creative and great for kiddos to play while you make your own. I use pom poms as the apple filling instead of creating the apple forms.
1. Apple Smiles
This was a fun little craft snack. Plus very yummy!
2. Apple Sauce
Making applesauce with your kiddos is so much fun. I let mine add the sugar and cinnamon. It is a recipe that is very hard to mess up. That way it is fun for the kiddos to make, relaxing for you to watch, and in the end yummy results.
3. Apple Sampling
This is a fun activity. For littles, just get a red, green and yellow apples and have them try each one. For older kids pick different types based on sweetness and crispness.
4. Apple Pie
This is fun to make. I promise, however if you think it will stress you out make an apple crisp instead. Or nothing at all. Although, rolling out pie dough and putting the ingredients together is both fun and a good life learning experience.
These are just a few of some very cool apple fun that is out there. These are activities and such that I chose to do with my girls that worked well and they both enjoyed. Remember, the most important part of doing things with your kiddos is to have fun, build relationships and create learning experiences.
