About Today's Little Moments

Hey there! My name is Rachel. I am excited to share some information about me and what this website is all about with you! I started Today’s Little Moments because I wanted a place to document my life with my girls, but also help other parents in the daily little moments. That is exactly where the name came from. Today’s little moments are tomorrow’s memories.

I was struggling as a mom to enjoy the little moments I kept feeling like there had to be more, the day had to be more eventful, fuller, more of something to make good memories for my girls. Until one day I realized that the moments my girls and I enjoyed most were the small moments. The moments found in between the big moments. That is not to say we do not enjoy the big moments, because on this page you will find tons of information about traveling but you will also find things that are just helpful in the simple day-to-day moments. I hope you enjoy and grow as I have.

I wanted to take a minute to give you some information about me. Hopefully, you will get to know me a little bit better and enjoy the idiosyncrasies that make each person unique.

  • I am married.

About me married
Luke and I on our wedding day

I have been married for almost 12 years. It has been eventful and fun! I love my husband dearly and he is most definitely my best friend.

  • I am a mom.

My girls love one another so much! It is wonderful to watch their friendship grow!

This one should not come as a surprise, but I have two daughters that are 7 & 5. They love all the girly things but also love bugs, fishing, and a good jumping puddle.

  • I love music.

Music speaks to the soul. My husband loves a variety of music but mostly listens to 80s rock. Van Halen and KISS are regulars in our house. My girls love musicals and all things Disney. I listen to pretty much anything, but I love some good Three Doors Down and most country.

My oldest was in school when the mess of 2020 happened. We kept her in the following year. After seeing what it did to her, we decided to homeschool this year. This is our very first year and so far, it has been so wonderful. Our family has grown closer together, we have been able to get with friends more often, and our lives are just more relaxed.

  • I was a teacher.

I taught for three years in the public school system and I taught for four years in a preschool. While I loved teaching and seeing the students, I do not miss teaching. Though I have my girls to teach which helps. My very first year on the first day of school I found out I was pregnant with my oldest (M). The following year was a mess and then I was pregnant with my youngest (E). After that, my husband and I decided that instead of my whole paycheck going to someone else to raise our kiddos I would just stay home. It was the best decision we have ever made.

  • We are NOT homebodies.

My husband and I are the worst homebodies on the planet. We get bored easily and take every opportunity to get out and see things. That is why you will see travel items on here. Some will be local while we are centrally located that we can reach cities with ease.

  • I love crafts and baking.

M took this picture of me while we were baking together. Yes I have on pants! HAHA

Crafts and baking are some of the ways I connect with my girls. It has been such a blessing to be able to do that with them and I love a good craft or recipe.

  • I am a control freak.

This is something I struggle with daily. Letting go of my expectations for the day and taking moments to enjoy my life. It is hard to think about things not in your control. As my girls said, “Mommy you are the planner and Daddy makes it fun!” This is very true. I am organized and like things just so. Very type A or type 1 haha whichever personality test they give me. My husband has helped me to relax and enjoy life. God knew exactly who to give me.

  • My husband is in the Air Force Reserves.

After 6 1/2 months apart we got to see one another! It was the best! 🙂

After three deployments, one right after E was born and one recently. It has been crazy at times learning to go through the days without my husband. Then learning how to adapt when he comes back home. Check out these articles for some tips on deployment with kids.

  • I am a fitness junkie.

Maybe junkie is not the right word. However, I love to work out. It is my time to get out of my head and just put my focus elsewhere. I enjoy the release it offers on the stress in life. I like to try different workouts and love to see how my body can adapt to different challenges.

Well, there you have it. Ten things about me. I would love for you to share something about yourself in the comments below so that I can learn something about you too!
